KWHA confirms appointment of KWSIEC Chairman, members

The Kwara State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointments of nominees for positions of Chairman and members of Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC).

Holistic Infos Recall that yesterday, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq forwarded seven names to the Assembly for screening and confirmation.

After rounds of scrutiny by the parliamentarians, the nominees were confirmed after the House dissolved itself into Committee of the Whole chaired by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi.

The confirmed nominees include; Muhammad Baba-Okanla from Ilorin West Local Government as the Chairman of the commission while, Fredric Sabi Abel, Baruten, Engr. Hassan Taiye Salami, Oyun, Gbedeyan Gbadura Yomi, Ekiti Ndama Al-Hassan Edu, Saka Baliqees Kehinde, Ilorin South, Engr. Abdullahi Janet Amdat, Ilorin East.

Earlier during the screening exercise, Chairman of the Commission, Mr Muhammad Baba Okanla promised to be impartial in the conduct of local government polls in the state.

Mr Baba Okanla reaffirmed the resolve of the electoral umpire by providing a level plain field for registered political parties before, during and after local government elections.

Also, a member of the Commission Engr. Hassan Taiye Salami charged the political class to always imbibe spirit of sportsmanship to ensure hitch free polls.

Engr. Salami assured lawmakers of interfacing with credible civil society organizations and other relevant stakeholders to engender transparent electoral process.

Speaker Danladi therefore directed Clerk of the House, Hajia Halimah Kperogi to communicate the notice of the confirmation of the appointments to the Governor.
