Kwara Governor reiterates commitment to improving agricultural productivity

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of Kwara State has restated its commitment to support farmers and improve agricultural productivity in the state.

Governor AbdulRasaq stated this at a closing ceremony on capacity building of one hundred extension agent/farmers on Small Ruminant Production and Crop Residue Processing for Improved Utilization by Ruminants.

Impact Consultant Limited was held at the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) Ilorin.

Governor AbdulRasaq, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government SSG, Prof. Mamman Saba Jibril promised to support the agricultural sector and improve the livelihoods of farmers.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the government’s initiatives and support services.

In her remarks, the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Oloruntoyosi Thomas, represented by the Director Personnel Financial and Supply in the Ministry, Mr Mayaki Babashuko said the benefitiaries were selected among equal and were trained to be a better person, encouraging them not to be selfish with knowledge but pass it on to others in their localities.

While thanking the governor for always supporting agricultural related programmes, she tasks the participants that such opportunity comes ones in a lifetime urging then to utilize it.

The Permanent Secretary General Services, Alhaji Abdulganiy Shuaib-Yitta appealed to the participants to utilize the knowledge gained during the Five-Day Training judiciously for the benefit of Kwarans.

Also speaking, the State Project Coordinator, Mr Oyawoye Olusoji appreciated Governor AbdulRasaq for giving him and his team free hand to operate and commended the Synergy Impact Consultant Limited for anob well-done.

In his submission, the Director, Centre For Research and Grant, Bayero University, Kano, Dr. Akeem Ajegbe said the training is timely and applauded the state government for selecting the beneficiaries based on merit.

Dr. Ajegbe charged the participants to use the knowledge gained during the training to impact others who have interest in farming for food sufficient in the state and country at large.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Doctor Saliu Ahmed and Alhaji Amuda Busari thanked Governor AbdulRasaq for the opportunity given to them and appealed to him to encourage them with tools that will be used to start their operations.

The Five-Day Training started on Monday 25th of November, 2024 and ended on Friday 29th November, 2024 with the presentation of Certificate of participation to participants.
