38-yrs-old Danladi emerges Kwara Assembly Speaker for second term

Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi has been elected as the Speaker of the Kwara State 10th Assembly.

This followed a motion for his nomination moved by Hon. Halidu Danbaba (Kaiama/Wajibe) and seconded by Hon. Arionla Lawal (Ilorin East) during today’s inauguration plenary.

The 10th Legislature was inaugurated following issuance of Proclamation by Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in compliance with Sec 105, (3) of the 1999 Constitution as amended

The 38 years old Danladi was the Speaker of the 9th Assembly and was unanimously reelected to lead the House for another republic.

Yakubu-Danladi was born in Gwanara, Baruten Local Government of Kwara State on May 31st 1985 into the family of Salihu Gwanara.

His early education began in 1988 at BLGEA Primary School where he earned First School Leaving Certificate 1993.

Yakubu Danladi attended St Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin finishing with a Senior Secondary Certificate Examination in 2001. He attended Kaduna Polytechnic College where he received a National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering between 2003 and 2008.

In 2016, Yakubu-Danladi earned B.Eng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Federal University of Technology, Minna.

He was a lecturer in the same University before he resigned to contest to represent his people in 2019.

In the same development, Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode of Odo-Ogun Constituency was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House unopposed.

Ojo Oyebode attended Baptist LGEA Primary School, Ipee and Jamaatu Nasril Islam Secondary School, Owu –Isin before attending the Federal Polytechnic, Offa.

He served as a Councillor in Ipee between 2007 and 2010.

Yakubu Danladi and Ojo Oyebode were therefore sworn in by the Clerk of the House, Hajia Halimah Jummai Kperogi at the Hallowed Chamber of the House.

Other Principal Officers of the House are Hon. Oba Abdulkadir Mogaji, representing Magaji/Ngeri Constituency was announced as the House leader while Hon. Medinah Abdulrahman, representing Lanwa Ejidongari Constituency, was declared as Deputy House Leader.

Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel (Ekiti Constituency) emerged as Chief Whip and Mariam Yusuf Aladi of Ilorin South Constituency clinched the position of Deputy Whip of the House.

Out of the 24 members, only one was elected under the platform of PDP member, while five of them are women.

Eight of the members sworn in are returnees, while 16 are new members.
