NPFL: Kwara United launch new pitch with victory

Kwara United on Sunday began their home matches of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2023/2024 season with a victory over Abia Warriors.

The match played at the Kwara State Stadium Complex is the first competitive march on the newly rehabilitated natural grass pitch after the club played all its home matches away from home last season.

A goal on 44th minute of the game decided the final outcome of the tense match, where the home team, was under pressure, to win to please home fans after slumping to a defeat away to Katsina United, last week.

Ejeh Isaiah tapped in from close range on the 44th minutes to put the home team ahead in the contest which also saw very anxious moments in the goal mouth of both sides.

Abia Warriors coach stated that his team lost concentration but stated that he would work on lapses of his team ahead of his next game.

He also attributed his loss to fatigue after the team journeyed for two days from Abia on account of bad roads.

“Bad roads will kill our league. I think it’s time we have an arrangemrnt with airlines,” he said.

He however saluted the technical bench of Kwara United.
“Coach Kabir Dogo has really done so well for the his team considering that he built the team for scratch this season.

Speaking on the outcome, Coach Kabir Dogo, technical adviser, Kwara United, admitted that his team was under pressure giving doggedness of the hard fighting Abia Warriors.
