The Kwara South traditional monarch, Oloota of Odo Owa, Oba Joshua Adeyemi Adimula has lamented the death of his progenitor, Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, who died after a brief illness at the age of 86.
Oloota in his condolence described Oba Aromolaran as paternal figure, esteemed mentor, and a dedicated coach who cherished and preserved cultural values and moral standards.
Oloota attributed the distinguished cultural heritage of Odo-Owa to its ancestral roots in Ijesaland, acknowledging the profound impact of Ijesa customs and traditions in shaping Odo-Owa’s unique identity and its prominence on the world stage.
According to Oloota, Owa Obokun’s remarkable 42-year tenure as the first class monarch of Ijesaland was marked by numerous achievements and transformative initiatives that significantly contributed to the growth and development of the region.
Oloota expressed deep sorrow, acknowledging that his community and the wider public will greatly miss Owa Obokun’s vast wisdom and wealth of knowledge, which had been a valuable resource to many.
Oloota said. ‘Baba Owa extraordinary life is a shining example for all. He was a selfless, unbiased, and compassionate father figure, leaving an indelible mark on our community. He is pity he has gone but we’ll always remember him.”
Oloota extended his sympathies to those mourning Owa Obokun’s demise, praying that God would provide the necessary solace and resilience. ‘May Almighty God grant the deceased’s family, friends, and community the fortitude to bear this immense loss,’ he implored.”
