The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Kwara State Chapter, is proud to announce the successful launch of the third phase of its Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES), aimed at supporting underprivileged students in higher institutions who face financial challenges in their educational journey. In light of the current economic pressures, this initiative underscores YOWICAN’s commitment to empowering youths and easing the financial burden of education for 20 selected students.
Each beneficiary received a grant of ₦40,000 specifically for tuition fee support, ensuring that they can continue their studies without interruption. Students from institutions such as the University of Ilorin, Kwara State University, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and Ado Ekiti University were selected, representing a cross-section of higher education in the region.
Event Highlights
The official disbursement ceremony took place at 1st ECWA Church, Taiwo Isale, Ilorin, with the attendance of distinguished YOWICAN executives, bloc leaders, local government representatives, and honored guests. Two beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to YOWICAN for the support, emphasizing the significant relief this assistance brings to their families.
The Chairman of YOWICAN Kwara State, Evangelist Stephen Awoyale, addressed the beneficiaries, emphasizing that this fund is to assist with their academic fees and should not be used for non-educational expenses. He further reiterated YOWICAN’s mission to provide real, impactful support to youth striving to fulfill their educational goals.
Partnership with SEAP Nigeria Limited
YOWICAN Kwara State Chapter extends profound gratitude to SEAP Nigeria Limited, whose generous financial support made this phase of the Youth Empowerment Scheme possible. Their commitment to youth development and partnership with YOWICAN has played a vital role in empowering these young individuals, bringing the vision of YES to fruition.
Addressing Economic Hardship through Youth Empowerment
This initiative is timely, given the current economic hardships, which have made it challenging for many families to sustain their children’s education. By providing financial assistance, YOWICAN aims not only to support students but to inspire resilience, academic success, and hope within Kwara State’s Christian youth community.
YOWICAN’s mission is rooted in fostering growth, promoting education, and building a future led by empowered, spiritually grounded, and educated youth. Through this scheme, YOWICAN hopes to plant seeds of hope and invest in the leaders of tomorrow.
