Kwara North Stakeholders Advocate Upgrade of Lafiaji College of Technology to University Status

The Kwara North Stakeholders, Etsu Patigi and his Chiefs had urge the State Government to upgrade Lafiaji, College of Technology to a university.

The appeal was made during Stakeholder’s meeting where they emphasized the institution’ potential to transform education and development in the region.

According to them ,the college has being a pillar of education for a long time, boasting infrastructure that could buttress learning advancement.”Upgrading the institution would enable local students to attain degrees and higher qualifications such as Professors and Doctors instead of limiting their ambitions to National Certification in Education (NCE)” the Stakeholders said.

“Our children no longer want to attend colleges; they aspire for polytechnics and universities. Upgrading this college will not only fulfill their educational dreams but also attract development to Kwara North and the state at large,” a representative in the meeting reveal.

Meanwhile, the stakeholders also pointed out the broader benefits of such an upgrade. They believe it will encourage students to study within the state, and it will reduce the need for them to travel to other states. This would enhance the region’s security by ensuring the safety of both people and property.

“With a university here, our children can stay close to home, which fosters community development. It will also minimize the security challenges faced by the district,” another stakeholder added.

The Etsu Patigi, while reiterating the significance of education for regional growth, called on the state government to take urgent steps toward upgrading the college. He described the institution as a potential hub for development that could lead to positive contribute to the educational and socio-economic progress in Kwara North.

The stakeholders however plead the government to prioritize their request, emphasize the importance of the college upgrading to students and community at large.
