A body of Nigerian professionals, under the aegis of Kogi Professionals In Diaspora has commended the courage, wisdom and progressive action of President Tinubu in the Appointment of Nigeria’s first female deputy Director General of the DSS.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Vice president (Nigeria constituents) of the group, Mr Oyez Olatunde Rex and made available to newsmen on Friday.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu earlier in the week had approved the appointment of Kogi state born Folashade Arinola Adekaiyaoja as Deputy Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
This historic approval, is the first of its kind by a President and aims to restore professionalism to the Service.
The appointment is part of the president’s effort to revise the Agency’s structure for better efficiency, aligning with the original organizational plan.
The DSS is structured to have three Deputy Directors General, and Adekaiyaoja’s appointment is seen as a significant boost to career progression within the Service.
According to the release, “Adekaiyaoja, a native of Kogi State, has been hailed as eminently qualified for the position by a cross-section of officers and operatives.”
Her appointment was recommended by the DSS Director-General, Mr. Oluwastosin Ajayi, through the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
President Tinubu had tasked security agencies to propose ways to improve service delivery, and Adekaiyaoja’s appointment is seen as a key step in this direction. The President had also promised to support the DSS and other security agencies with Artificial Intelligence-powered equipment to combat insecurity.
The DSS Director-General, Mr. Ajayi, had pledged sweeping reforms to transform the DSS into one of the world’s most efficient covert security agencies. Adekaiyaoja’s appointment is a significant move towards achieving this goal.
The Kogi Professionals In Diaspora wishes the new DDG of DSS “a successful tenure in office while praying for wisdom and grace to attain greater heights”.
