…warns against misconduct
The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, psc, mnips, has briefed Deputy Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, DPOs, and Tactical Commanders on the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, today 25th September, 2025.
The CP harped on professionalism and respect for human rights.
CP Adekimi Ojo issued a stern warning to officers of the Command, making it clear that extortion, harassment, human rights abuses, and any form of misconduct will no longer be tolerated.
He emphasized that officers who interfere in purely civil cases without criminal elements, unlawfully search citizens’ phones, or maliciously labelling the youth as “Yahoo boys” or internet fraudsters, are committing grave offences that will attract the most severe disciplinary sanctions.
The Commissioner declared that indiscriminate phone search on the road is banned, except strictly in cases where such devices are confirmed exhibits in ongoing investigations.
While warning officers to desist from these illegal practices, CP Adekimi Ojo reassured members of the public, particularly students and young people who have been unfairly targeted in the past, that the Command under his watch will protect their dignity and rights as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He urged the youths to remain law-abiding and promised that the era of intimidation and wrongful profiling is over in Kwara State.
The Commissioner of Police, has announced that enforcement of tinted glass permits will begin on 2nd October 2025.
Offenders with fake, invalid or no permits will be charged to court within 24 hours, and the public is advised to have the original copy of the tinted permits on them at all times.
