A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi, has urged party members across Nigeria to embrace reconciliation and dialogue following the conclusion of the party’s primary elections.

Adeyemi made the appeal in a statement titled, “One Door Has Closed, Another Is About to Open: The Time for Dialogue, Reconciliation and a New Political Compact Is Now.” He released the statement after the APC submitted the names of its presidential, vice-presidential, National Assembly and other candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Focus Must Shift to 2027

According to Adeyemi, the primaries have produced winners and disappointed aspirants. However, he said the party must now concentrate on securing victory in the 2027 general elections.

He commended everyone who participated in the primaries and said each aspirant deserved respect for contributing to the party’s democratic process.

“The question before us now is not about who won or who lost,” he said. “It is about how we preserve our collective strength and secure a better future for ourselves, our communities and our state.”

He warned against allowing personal ambition to override the collective interest of the APC.

Appeal to Aggrieved Members

Adeyemi urged serving National Assembly members who lost their return tickets to remain committed to the party.

He said their experience and contributions still position them for greater responsibilities in the future. According to him, loyalty to the APC offers better prospects than pursuing actions capable of creating division.

He also argued that party unity would improve the APC’s chances of attracting more federal projects, appointments and development opportunities.

Support Party Candidates

Turning to Kwara State, Adeyemi called on party members to unite behind the APC governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, and other candidates who emerged from the primaries.

Although he acknowledged that some stakeholders may feel dissatisfied with aspects of the process, he urged them to seek redress through dialogue and the party’s internal conflict-resolution mechanisms.

He warned that prolonged internal disputes could weaken the APC and strengthen opposition parties ahead of the general election.

Call for Inclusive Leadership

Adeyemi also appealed to the party leadership to engage aggrieved members through consultations, reconciliation and meaningful political inclusion.

He suggested appointments, party responsibilities and other opportunities as practical ways to strengthen unity within the APC.

Describing himself as a “self-appointed Kwara APC Peace Ambassador,” Adeyemi pledged to support every genuine effort aimed at rebuilding trust and fostering reconciliation.

He maintained that the end of the primaries should mark the beginning of renewed unity and collective mobilisation for the 2027 elections.

“Peace and unity remain the APC’s greatest assets,” he said.
