A respected first-class monarch in Kwara South, His Royal Majesty Oba Joshua Adeyemi Adimula, has offered special prayers in his community to commemorate World Teachers’ Day and to condemn the rising cases of banditry in Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
The monarch, the Olota of Odo-Owa in Oke Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State, prayed for peace in his domain and for teachers who he said are making significant sacrifices and showing unwavering commitment to shaping the lives of students.
Oba Adimula described teachers as the bedrock of societal development and the architects of the future, noting that they deserve to be celebrated and encouraged at all times.
He said teachers deserve more than just a day of celebration, stressing that their role in molding character, instilling discipline and nurturing future leaders cannot be over-emphasized.
“On this special occasion of Teachers’ Day, I, on behalf of the good people of Odo-Owa land, extend my heartfelt congratulations to all teachers in Kwara State and Nigeria at large. You are our heroes. Your labour will never be in vain,” the monarch said.
Speaking further, Oba Adimula said teaching remains one of the noblest professions.
“One of the professions I love most is teaching. It demonstrates the character of Jesus Christ who taught all through his sojourn on earth. Whoever chooses teaching as a profession is a life builder. That’s why I tell our teachers to ensure they do their work passionately, the reward is there for them,” he stated.
The traditional ruler also prayed for divine protection for teachers and students across the country.
“It is my prayer that God will shield our teachers, our children, and all learners from the evil hands of bandits, kidnappers and terrorists. May our schools remain safe havens of learning and not places of fear,” he prayed.
He called on government at all levels, parents and other stakeholders to continue to support and honour teachers, while urging teachers to remain steadfast in their noble service to humanity.
The monarch concluded by wishing all teachers a happy and memorable World Teachers’ Day celebration.
