Court docks Moshood Mustapha for attempted murder

The Kwara High Court has arraigned one Moshood Mustapha, the Personal Assistant (PA) to Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye for allegedly attempting to kill the council Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) chairman, Olatundun Olajare Thomas.

The monarch PA was dragged through the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), before Justice Zikir Umar of the state High Court.

The defendant, Moshood Mustapha, faces a two-count charge in court, accused of slapping the TIC chairman at Olofa’s palace, causing physical harm, and attempting to commit culpable homicide, as defined in Section 229 of the Penal Code and Section 3(1) of the Kwara State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law.

Mustapha, upon reading the charges to him, denied the allegations leveled against him by the council boss while his counsel, Bar. Femi, applied for his bail.

He urged the court to admit his client to bail on the basis that he has been enjoying bail from the Magistrate court where he was first arraigned saying he is a law abiding citizen.

Earlier, the DPP, Barrister Muhammed Akande, had applied for another date to prove the charges leveled against him.

National Moonlight reports that the court admitted the defendant to bail with two million naira, two sureties in which one of them must have landed property in Ilorin while the matter was adjourned to 24th of June 2024.
