Awelewa Handovers Reconstructed Legislative Building To Ekiti Legislators

The Executive Chairman of Ekiti Local Government Council, Honourable Awelewa Olawale, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, oversaw the commissioning and handling over of the recently reconstructed legislative building of the Ekiti local government Legislative Council to the legislators.

The building reconstruction and upgrades work, which included restructuring of the building external facade, installation of modern furniture and improved interior design, were well received by the council legislators led by the speaker, Right Honourable Fatoyinbo Micheal.

While commissioning the building, the council chairman, Honourable Awelewa highlighted the council’s commitment to enhancing efficiency of the legislative arm of the council which was the driving force for embarking on the project to provide a conducive legislative building for the legislators.

Looking ahead, Honourable Awelewa announced plans to construct a dedicated permanent legislative block for Ekiti Legislative Council so as to streamline legislative procedures and boost governance within the local government. He also pledged a broader infrastructural development program, promising to revitalize other aging facilities within the secretariat and across the local government area.

During the official commissioning and handover ceremony, the speaker, Honourable Fatoyinbo, while receiving the newly renovated building, expressed gratitude to the Council chairman, Honourable Awelewa Olawale, for approving the redesign and reconstruction work and for the timely completion of the project with the interior finishing and furniture.

“We are immensely grateful for the council chairman, Honourable Awelewa for his support in creating a more conducive work environment for the legislators,” Honourable Fatoyinbo stated. “This renovation is a significant step forward in our commitment to providing exceptional service to the people of Ekiti Local government council.”

In another landmark event, Honourable Awelewa Olawale, the Ekiti Local Government Council Chairman, presented official vehicles to the council’s Director of Personnel Management, DPM and the Treasurer in line with his commitment to enhancing productivity and efficiency while promoting the well-being of the public service workforce at the local government level.

During the presentation, Honourable Awelewa emphasised that the occasion marked a significant step in the administration’s commitment to excellence and efficiency.

He highlighted the crucial role staff of the council play in delivering the dividends of democracy and the importance of equipping them to fulfil their official duties effectively.

He further urged the DPM and Treasurer to lead the council workers to show more dedication to their work and service to the people by fostering development and staying connected with them at all times.

In a vote of thanks, the Director of Personnel Management, DPM of Ekiti Local Government Council, Alhaji Ayantola Mukaila, expressed gratitude to the people-centric Chairman, Honourable Awelewa Olawale.

He assured that they will work to continually support the Council Chairman to build on his road maps and achievements so far, noting that the vehicles would significantly enhance the smooth and efficient operation of their offices.

It is worth recalling that shortly after their inauguration, the Chairman had also presented official vehicles to the speaker of the Legislative Council and the Vice chairman of the council.
