The Kwara State Police Command has debunked claims that its operatives shot a motorcyclist at Oyun Bridge, Ilorin, following a video circulating on social media.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Command clarified that no one was shot, describing the viral video as misleading.

The PPRO disclosed that a 23-year-old motorcyclist, Abdurasaq Lukman, who was allegedly on top speed, knocked down Corporal Saka Azeez, one of the officers on duty.
“The impact left the Corporal with serious head injuries and a fracture, while Abdurasaq Lukman also sustained minor injuries. Other officers at the scene immediately responded and conveyed both the injured officer and the motorcyclist to a medical facility for treatment,” the statement read.
She added that the motorcyclist has been treated and discharged and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while Corporal Azeez remains under medical care and requires further examination and scans to ascertain the full extent of his injuries.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, advised members of the public to exercise caution and avoid sharing unverified information capable of causing panic and anxiety.
The Command also appreciated public concerns over police activities and reiterated its commitment to professionalism and transparency.
