Sardauna: Kwara South Monarch, Oba Adimula Hails Gov AbdulRazaq, Lauds Emir of Ilorin

A First Class traditional ruler in Kwara South Senatorial District, Oba Joshua Adeyemi Adimula, has congratulated Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on his turbaning as the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate.

Governor AbdulRazaq will be formally turbaned with the revered title on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, by the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai Martaba Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.

In a congratulatory message personally signed by him and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday, Oba Adimula described the conferment as well-deserved and a recognition of the Governor’s exemplary leadership.

The monarch said Governor AbdulRazaq has, since assumption of office, demonstrated uncommon commitment to peace, unity, human capital development, education, agricultural transformation and the general wellbeing of Kwarans, virtues which the title of Sardauna represents.

“The title of Sardauna is not just an honour, it is a huge responsibility. It symbolises courage, protection, and selfless service to the people. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has lived these values in his administration’s people-centred policies, massive infrastructural renewal and inclusive governance,” Oba Adimula stated.

He commended the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Sulu-Gambari, for his wisdom in choosing Governor AbdulRazaq for the prestigious title, noting that the Emir has continued to be a father to all and a custodian of culture and tradition.

Oba Adimula also welcomed Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, who is expected to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the historic turbaning ceremony in Ilorin.

According to him, the presence of the Vice President at the event underscores the strong bond between the Federal Government and Kwara State, as well as the Federal Government’s recognition of Governor AbdulRazaq’s contributions to national development.

He prayed for the Governor’s success as he assumes the new traditional role.

“I pray that Almighty God grants Your Excellency more wisdom, sound health, strength and long life to continue to serve our people and humanity at large. May this new honour spur you to do more for Kwara State and the Ilorin Emirate,” the statement added.
